Mats Soomre, founder of Belbin Estonia, is the first Belbin Distributor to become a Belbin Accredited Team Coach. I recently spoke with him about how team coaching delivers deeper, more lasting results than traditional team-building — and how he has developed a practitioner-led approach to support that work. Mats explained that team coaching is tailored to the specific dynamics, challenges, and goals of each team, whereas training, in contrast, is often more general — content-led and event-based. His coaching is iterative, supporting teams over time rather than through one-off interventions. What truly sets Mats apart is his Team & Leadership Dynamics reports — practitioner-written narrative analyses that offer extended interpretation and tailored advice to support the team coaching process.
