Estonian Mental Health Advocacy Association for Patients & Families

Overview

I had the pleasure of working with Mats as part of a series of team coaching sessions for our team at the Estonian Mental Health Advocacy Association (EPILL). The sessions came at exactly the right time and were incredibly impactful. What stood out to the team was the reminder — and deeper realisation — that we all have strengths and weaknesses, and that weaknesses aren't negative; they help us understand how to delegate wisely and support each other better. The sessions brought out emotions, created clarity, and helped us see why things had felt so challenging. For me, it offered valuable insight into my leadership journey. For others, it unlocked new ways of working more openly and effectively together. One team member even discovered that what she thought were flaws were actually recognised as valued strengths — a powerful moment for all of us. Over time, we grew closer. The energy became more collaborative, empathetic, and full of possibility. We began to trust one another more and communicate more openly. While our team has always recognised the value of neurodiversity, these sessions helped us experience the true impact of what it means when people feel that their differences are not just accepted, but genuinely welcomed and celebrated. That shift deepened our psychological safety and made space for people to fully show up as themselves. The strengths-matrix exercise showed us, visually and clearly, that together we already had everything we needed to succeed. It reminded me — and demonstrated clearly — that I'm not meant to carry everything alone, not as an individual and not even as a leader. After each session, I felt peaceful, hopeful, and proud. Mats's approach is thoughtful, intuitive, and transformational. I wholeheartedly recommend him.
